Thank a nurse this week 😊
This is National Nurses Week, so I wanted to give a shout out to all my fellow nurses.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your patients, even though I know it’s often under very difficult circumstances.
There continues to be a nursing shortage in this country, but nursing schools don’t have enough slots for all the young men and women who apply.
From the very start, these students must prove themselves to be high achievers and passionate about nursing.

After graduation they face a steep learning curve to become highly skilled and comfortable caring for some very, very sick individuals.
Every day they walk with patients and their families through some of life’s most heartbreaking and joyful experiences.
My favorite books about nurses
If you want to learn more about nurses or nursing history, here are some of my favorite books on the subject. They would also make great gifts for a nurse or future nurse in your family!
FYI, National Nurses Week traditionally starts every year on May 6 and ends on May 12—Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
